It All Depends on the Angle (#4)

I took all these pictures of myself yesterday at 30 weeks minus one day. My head is chopped off because I kept experimenting with the camera precariously balanced on some books on the edge of the bed.

Depending on the perspective, I think I look at different stages of pregnancy. In reality, I took them all within a few minutes. I also think my different maternity clothes make a big difference in how pregnant I look. What do you think? Am I imagining things?

I don't think you look very pregnant from the front -- other shirts you have make you look much more pregnant -- funny how that works! And a nice compliment to you, as some of us when pregnant (ahem) look pregnant all over!

Anti-Procrastination

I'm a list person. Life goals. Daily routines. To-do lists. Things I've never done that will never get done because I don't have to do them.

Well, I'm sick of it! It's time to quit saying, "I wish I could speak Spanish" and just do it.

I will turn thirty on October 14, 2010, and when that day comes, I hope to have a list of thirty accomplishments.

The truth: God is in control. If he wants to send my life in another direction and prevent me from accomplishing these things (especially number 4), he can do that. But that's not for me to worry about.

My list is lower down on this sidebar. What's on your list?

The List

1. Complete a self-study beginner Spanish course. Practice with native speakers. (Completed March, 2010)

2. Make scrumptious apple and/or cherry dumplings, a la Boxcar Children. (Completed August, 2010)

3. Make and wear a dress or skirt I actually like. (Completed August, 2010)

4. Have a baby. (Completed November, 2010)

5. Read something by each of the Brontë sisters (Wuthering Heights by Emily--Completed December, 2009; Agnes Grey by Anne--Completed February, 2010; Jane Eyre by Charlotte--Completed April, 2010).

6. Learn to bake focaccia bread. Make that focaccia into grilled vegetable sandwiches. (Completed June, 2010)

7. Learn to knit and knit a finished product. (Completed August, 2010)

8. Host a game night with great food and entertaining people (and enjoy myself). (Completed August, 2010)

9. Join or form a book club in my new community. (Completed September, 2010)

10. Organize all my recipes, tried and untried, in one place. (Completed December, 2009)

11. Learn to crochet and crochet a finished product. (Completed June, 2010)

12. Host a Chinese dinner party with great food and fascinating people (and enjoy myself). (Completed October, 2009)

13. Memorize a song on the piano. (Completed January, 2010)

14. Sketch a family member's portrait. (Completed May, 2010)

15. Obtain a hard copy of East Asia Experience blog. (Completed March, 2010)

21. During the Christmas season, make peppermint bark that tastes like Williams-Sonoma's (Completed December, 2009).

22. Reread the following books I read in college and discover what I think of them now: The Great Gatsby, The Scarlet Letter, All the King's Men, and The Bean Trees. 23. Sing Karaoke and enjoy myself. (Completed June 11, 2009; Beijing, China)

24. Learn by heart at least 75 hymns from Christian Worship. Learn all the stanzas. (Completed June, 2010)

25. Reread Fast Food Nation. (Completed November, 2009)

26. Make an American Flag cake for July 4 or another American holiday. Photograph it. (Completed July, 2010)

27. Stroll along the Lake Michigan shore in winter and take stunning photos. (Completed February, 2010)

28. Recreate Olive Garden's delectable soup: Zuppa Toscana. (Completed December, 2009)

29. Visit Milwaukee's Mitchell Park Conservatory, "The Domes." (Completed July, 2010)

30. Commit to memory five songs on the recorder. "Mary Had a Little Lamb" doesn't count. (Completed June, 2010)
