It's Really Been a Year! (#18)

Today I mailed off my Mom's birthday box. It's really fun, but she'll have to wait to open it, so I can't tell you what's in it. That marks the end of my year of observing birthdays.

I think I sent a card (or in some cases a postcard) to everyone ON TIME except my father-in-law. That's because I left it up to my husband to take the lead on that one, knowing he'd get around to it eventually. And he did, even though it was belated. So for once I didn't miss any of our grandparents, nieces, nephews, siblings, siblings-in-law, or parents. Throw in three good friends who live far away, and that's 29 birthdays. Gifts only went to a select few.

It didn't give me as much satisfaction as I thought it would. Basically, I don't know what to write in birthday cards for my brothers. I don't think what I write in my little nieces' and nephews' cards is very important, especially since most of them never remember my name when I see them. I hope they all liked the stickers I sent.

I did it as an experiment, mainly because I have a wonderful aunt who never forgets anyone's birthday, and her list must have over 100 people on it. I was trying to be more like her, I guess. I'm not going to make it my goal to continue for the next year. If I do it again, great. If not, well, most of the people on my list don't send me cards (nor do I expect them to), so I doubt anyone will hold it against me.
